Who We Are
Educational and Community Supports (ECS) is a research unit within the University of Oregon’s College of Education. From federally funded grants to software development, training future leaders to supporting youth, ECS is committed to expanding the use of evidence-based practices and systems that improve outcomes for children, youth, and adults, especially those with disabilities.
Research
Our researchers explore how to create effective learning environments that support all students. For more than 50 years, we’ve pushed ourselves to ask new questions of old findings to evolve with the ever-changing field of education. Current projects focus on positive behavior interventions and support (PBIS), family-centered interventions, research methods, and early intervention.
Partnership
We collaborate at the national, state, and local levels with educators, students, families, and community members to solve complex educational problems. The solutions we achieve together are stronger, and more likely sustained because of our commitment to true partnerships.
Training and Coaching
As members of the educational community, we feel compelled to make our expertise accessible and tangible. Whether it’s larger training events, school-level coaching, one-on-one visits with families, or technical assistance for teams, sharing what we know with you is central to our mission.
Software Development
We remain committed to blending current research findings with practical solutions that empower you to make data-driven decisions in real time. As a result of that commitment, we build and support online applications that put data directly at your fingertips to make better, more informed decisions affecting school and program outcomes.
Equity
In every aspect of our work, equity sits at the center. We believe everyone deserves a place to learn where they can be themselves freely and enthusiastically.
